Better Than Alaska? Exploring New Zealand's Beautiful Fjords S3:E12

Описание: In episode 12 of our South Pacific Cruise we finally arrive in New Zealand. We enter Fjordland National Park and what a first impression it makes. Our ship ventures into the narrow fjords amidst numerous waterfalls and wildlife. Anyone who has been on an Alaska cruise will be familiar with the sights and sounds we encounter as we traverse the many bays and sounds. This is definitely one of the most beautiful places we have ever seen, and we do our best to capture its majesty on camera.

Our exploration begins as we enter Milford Sound and we are stunned by the number and variety of waterfalls careening down the cliffsides into the sea. Then we sail through Thompson and Doubtful Sounds in somewhat variable weather conditions. We finish the journey in Breaksea Sound as we travel inland to Dusky Sound which is home to numerous seals and small islands perfect for wildlife spotting.

Our cruise on the Norwegian Cruise Lines Sun takes us to numerous islands including Bora Bora, Rarotonga, American Samoa, Pago Pago, The Kingdom of Samoa, Fiji and Vanuatu, Then we arrive in Australia where we make port calls in Brisbane, Melbourne, Portland, Adelaide, and Kangaroo Island. After that, we visit Hobart, Tasmania before we sail through the fjords of New Zealand's Fjordlands National Park. We round off the cruise with stops in Dunedin, Wellington, Picton, Napier, Tauranga and Aukland.

As usual, we have made some prearranged tours prior to sailing, but in some places we leave the ship with very little idea of what we are going to do that day. Whether planned or spontaneous, we manage to have a fantastic time as we experience our first trip down under.
