SPCA Cincinnati: How the pet adoption process works

Описание: CINCINNATI (WKRC) - One of the SPCA Cincinnati's biggest fundraisers happens Saturday, January 7; the Adopt-A-Pet Fund 2017.

People see them every week on Local 12; big, small, cute and cuddly. They're furry and sometimes not so furry friends. And they're adoptable through the SPCA. But just how does the adoption process work?

First, several pets are shown on the Local 12 air, letting viewers know they're available. The next step is heading to one of two SPCA locations where people are then entered into a lottery. Whichever person's number is picked, the pet is theirs.

That was how Jennifer and Deshaun saw their little pup and made him their own.

"Of course we looked around at stores. But I have friends that have adopted here before and they told us to check this out first because you're helping out a puppy also," they said.

Once people take their pet home. it's on them to be a responsible owner. With a one dog already, Jennifer and Deshaun knew what to expect with their new addition.

But whether people bring home a young pup or they try to teach an old dog new tricks, just remember one very important thing: you have to have patience. A lot of patience.
