The Supreme Court has issued detailed directions to ensure the peaceful conduct of Basant Panchami Puja and Friday (Jumma) Namaz at the disputed Bhojshala Temple–Kamal Maula Masjid complex in Madhya Pradesh.
A Bench led by CJI Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi appealed to both Hindu and Muslim communities to maintain mutual respect and harmony during the observances. The Court approved arrangements suggested by the Madhya Pradesh government, including regulated entry, separate access points, and issuance of passes for namaz to maintain law and order.
The Court clarified that Basant Panchami Puja may continue from sunrise to sunset, as traditionally permitted, while Friday namaz will be held during its specified afternoon time.
In a significant development, the Supreme Court also directed that the ASI survey report on the Bhojshala complex be unsealed when the matter is taken up by the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The High Court has been instructed to hear the case expeditiously, allow objections to the report, and maintain status quo at the site until final adjudication.
