Government of Pakistan with the financial and technical support of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) has launched the
National Poverty Graduation Programme (NPGP) in 388 Union Councils of 23 districts across Pakistan.
The programme is implemented by Pakistan Poverty Alleviation Fund (PPAF) through its partner organisations i.e. NRSP, TRDP, BRSP, LASOONA, SRSO and SABAWON. Community mobilisation approach is used for social inclusion to attain the end goal of livelihood development and financial inclusion.
Poverty Graduation model is a tried and tested approach and has been used in a number of countries to help poor come out of poverty trap. In its package it includes: consumption support, skills enhancement, asset transfer, savings and micro finance. Tailored interventions are used for various poverty bands.
