🦵There's a small muscle at the side of your upper leg called the TFL (tensor fasciae latae) that often becomes tight and can cause all kinds of problems. It starts on your hip and connects via some fascia into the iliotibial band which then travels down past the knee.
💪The importance of the TFL muscle lies in its role in stabilizing the hip and knee joints. When it becomes tight, it can cause discomfort and even pain. Stretching this muscle can help alleviate these issues and improve overall mobility.
🧘♂️Stretching the TFL can be challenging, but with the right technique, it can be done effectively. Start in the lunge position and imagine there's a tightrope and both your kneecap and the front foot are on that tightrope. From here, push that back hip forward by squeezing the glute and then gently rotating the hip at the end. You should feel a stretch right in your pocket - that's how you stretch the TFL.
