Wigmore Hall, London: Dorothee Jansen and Francis Grier perform Schubert's Der Juengling am Bach D192, one of those early soprano songs almost certainly written for Schubert's youthful sweetheart, Therese Grob. It is not one of the seventeen songs belonging to the Grob collection of songs known as The Therese Grob Songbook, but is one of the five miscellaneous songs in the Jansen Grier Duo's concert programme of the same name, 'The Therese Grob Songbook', several songs from which are included on Youtube. The Jansen Grier Duo have performed their 'Grob' programme extensively, together with two other all-Schubert programmes ('Die Modezeitung' and 'An die Frau'). Their Schubert has been presented in several recitals at the Wigmore Hall in London, including two performances of the Therese Grob programme, and at international festivals such as Il maggio musicale fiorentino and the Montpellier Festival of Radio France and many others, as well as in the international Lieder subscription series at major opera houses, such as the Grand Theatre de Geneve. Schloss Grafenegg, Schloss Neudrossenfeld and the exquisite Margrave Opera House (Markgraefliches Opernhaus) in Bayreuth are among the most beautiful settings in which they have performed these programmes.
The irises in the video are filmed in Christchurch, New Zealand, in the magnificent gardens of Lansdown Homestead. The river running through the gardens is the Halswell.
