Описание: Close contest for the DHL Fastest Lap in the 2019 Mexican GP: At Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, the six fastest race laps were all within three tenths of a second. Ultimately, the best time was set by Charles Leclerc. The Ferrari driver scored the extra point on Lap 53 with a time of 01:19.232 minutes.

Leclerc laid the groundwork for the bonus with a second pit stop on Lap 43. This allowed the Monegasque driver to accelerate away with fresh (albeit hard) tires and a fuel tank that was starting to run dry. However, it was not enough to crack the lap record of 01:18.741 minutes set by Valtteri Bottas the year before.

But it was enough to beat Alexander Albon. The Red Bull driver also clocked his best time after a second tire change. However, the F1 rookie was 0.093 seconds slower than Leclerc. Sebastian Vettel posted the third-fastest lap, 0.149 seconds off the time set by his team-mate.

In the overall ranking of the 2019 DHL Fastest Lap Award, Leclerc shares the runner-up spot with Max Verstappen, each of them on a total of three fastest laps. Both can theoretically still catch and overtake class leader Lewis Hamilton (5) in the three remaining races hosted by the USA, Brazil and Abu Dhabi.
