Rolling Stock: Alstom = NJT Comet V Cab Car #6026, MNCR Comet V trailers. EMD = MNCR GP40FH-2 #4904.
Since I had a bit of extra time about a month prior and needed to visit my acupuncturist in New York City, I decided to do something that I have not done in over 4 years: take a trip to the Port Jervis Line and board one of their trains. Since I had left my house a little bit later than expected, I ended up running into some traffic on the Garden State Parkway. Luckily, I was able to exit off a bit faster than expected and travel onto Route 17 and I-87 with no congestion. Furthermore, Train #56 was delayed by about 10 minutes, but as I walked to the platform, it pulled in shortly after, thus turning the 10 minute delay into a 5 minute delay, so I'm glad I didn't waste any time lol.
I was thrown off guard that the cab car wasn't MNCR #6714 like I had seen the night prior. Instead, it was NJT #6026. I have to say, I am happy about this change, considering that #6026 has an Unrestricted Roundtag K5LA, which supersedes the Raised Letter K5LA on #6714. Once nighttime fell, #6026 was swapped out for #6712, which ended the less than 1 day tenure of #6026 on this set. I originally intended on taking Train #58 to Hoboken since it had Comet V Cab Car #6012 leading, but I wanted to film two sets. Furthermore, I wanted to give myself enough time to be in New York so I could catch Train #49 back to Middletown. In case I have not noted it, the main purpose of filming the rides this day was to gain that experience in diesel three-car sets on high-speed lines.
Here are the acronyms used in my title, for those who are not familiar with New Jersey Transit.
BCL = Bergen County Line
PJL = Port Jervis Line
While I was hoping to travel at a higher rate of speed at some point on the stretch between Ramsey-Route 17 and Secaucus Junction, the train managed to hit a top speed of 75 mph on the Graham Line section of the Port Jervis Line between Salisbury Mills-Cornwall and Harriman.
With that being said, that will be all folks. There's nothing else to add, especially since I have already said plenty. If I missed anything, the text in the video should help you out with reading my thoughts and identifying any key information.
