On-Board MN New Haven Line Train

Rolling Stock: General Electric = MNCR P32AC-DM Locomotive #205. Bombardier = Shoreliner III Trailer Cars #6374, #6454, and #6344; Comet II Trailer Car #6142 and Cab Car #6127 (trailing the entire consist); Shoreliner II Trailer Car #6161 and CDOT Cab Car #6223.

This consist is a bit strange, considering that the rear portion of the train has two cab cars, back-to-back, instead of one of the cab cars being coupled directly behind the engine.

Welcome to the video, everyone! Today, we're throwing it back to about a year ago when I decided to take a trip to Danbury, Connecticut via the New Haven Line hotshot: Train #1860, the 5:53pm direct express train via the New Haven Line to Danbury. I know it took me a long time to upload this, but not only have I been busy with other obligations, but I also had some technical difficulties with the editing process because of a mistake I made during the recording process, which caused the camera to lose power, therefore causing a huge portion of the video to get corrupted. Thankfully, I resolved the issue, so hopefully y'all can still enjoy the video!

For some of the stations, up until Mount Vernon East, are some I have seen before on road trips, but I have never actually been to any of them, so it was pretty cool to see all of the bypassed stations. Maybe one day, I will travel all the way to New Haven State Street, the New Canaan Branch and the Waterbury Branch, depending on the time I have.

Since the New Haven Line lies on the Northeast Corridor, the trackage runs through rather populous, urban areas. With that in play, I am surprised the train did not exceed 76 mph, despite it being a super express train.

One of the conductors aboard this train found me recording beside the door and seemed to find it strange and began to bombard me with questions. While I am cool with talking with people, this particular conductor kept on probing me for almost 20 minutes and even asked me for ID and a card for the job I worked at. Like, man, I get you're trying to make conversation, but no need to ask me personal stuff and you have no right to ask for ID, all because you've never seen someone record video. What a bullshit excuse.

Overall, I would say this was an interesting ride that I wish could have gone better in some aspects, especially in regards to the progression of the video itself, the seating arrangements, and the constant pacing with the eastbound New Haven Line trains; however, the video turned out pretty good. It was also nice setting foot in Connecticut for the first time in nearly 16 years and for the first time in Danbury.
