They touch on major trends for business schools today, particularly as they relate to the MBA program and the Wharton School’s plan for future success. Business degrees are experiencing significant growth in popularity within the United States, Garrett notes, though full-time MBA programs are on a domestic decline. Garrett describes the rationale behind the decline in full-time MBA as linked to heavy opportunity costs to leaving a career.
Levy and Garrett also discuss the relative strength of Wharton and other top MBA programs compared to the industry as a whole. The top programs end up being the largest as well, due to high demand. Wharton's Garrett points out, “Students are smart; they want to go to a place like Wharton where they know that the value of the MBA is so high.”
