Learn how to win running races by mastering run pacing with 5 Time Olympic Coach Bobby McGee. "I call pacing the final physical skill in endurance sports. Pacing is not natural for us as athletes; we want to go fast when we are fresh, & then slow down progressively as we fatigue. The best way however to go as fast as what we are capable of is to go at the exact pace (give or take 3%) our training has indicated we are capable of for the duration of the event. It would seem that then our brain will allow us to pick up the pace over the last 10 or so % of the race & in so doing give us that oft elusive negative split.
