Alla fine dell’autunno dell’anno 1098 i Crociati arrivano in vista delle mura di Antiochia, una delle città più importanti di tutto il Medio-Oriente. Il lungo assedio di questa metropoli, insieme alle dinamiche e ai contrasti che ne scaturiranno, saranno un ostacolo determinante da superare nel viaggio verso Gerusalemme. Il comportamento spregiudicato e valoroso di Boemondo di Taranto farà ottenere al condottiero normanno la corona del Principato di Antiochia e costituirà una vittoria indispensabile per il successo della Crociata. La strada per Gerusalemme era ormai aperta.

In the late autumn of the year 1098, the Crusaders arrived within sight of the walls of Antioch, one of the most important cities in the entire Middle East. The long siege of this metropolis, together with the dynamics and conflicts that ensue, will be a decisive obstacle to overcome on the journey to Jerusalem. The unscrupulous and valiant behaviour of Bohemond of Taranto will win the Norman leader the crown of the Principality of Antioch and constitute an indispensable victory for the success of the Crusade. The road to Jerusalem was now open.
