Ingredients:
For Marination
Fish / മീൻ കഷണങ്ങൾ — 500gms.
Turmeric powder /മഞ്ഞൾപൊടി— ¼ tsp.
Salt /ഉപ്പ് — 1tsp.
Kashmiri red chilli powder /കാഷ്മീരിമുളകുപൊടി— 1tsp.
Pepper powder /കുരുമുളക്പൊടി — ½ tsp.
Vinegar / Lime juice /ചൊറുക്ക / ചെറുനാരങ്ങ നീര് — 2 tsp.
Coconut oil /വെളിച്ചെണ്ണ — 1 tsp.
For Gravy
Oil / എണ്ണ — for frying the fish/മീൻ വറുക്കുന്നതിനു്
Small onions (sliced) / ചുവന്നുള്ളി(അരിഞ്ഞത്)— 7 to 8
Onion (half sliced) /സവോള (പകുതിയായി അരിഞ്ഞത്) — 1
Ginger juliennes /ഇഞ്ചി നീളത്തിൽ അരിഞ്ഞത്— 1” piece
Green chillies /പച്ചമുളക് —3
Turmeric powder/മഞ്ഞൾപൊടി— ¼ tsp.
Kashmiri red chilli powder/കാഷമീരി മുളകുപൊടി—2 tsp.
Coriander powder /മല്ലിപൊടി —1 tsp.
Tomatoes(chopped)/തക്കാളി(അരിഞ്ഞത്)— 3 (150 to 175gms.)
Salt / ഉപ്പ്— 1tsp.
Coconut milk (thick) /കട്ടിയുള്ളതേങ്ങപ്പാൽ — ½ cup
Coconut milk (thin) /തേങ്ങപ്പാൽ —2 cups
Fenugreek powder (roasted) /വറുത്ത ഉലുവപ്പൊടി— 1/8 tsp.
Vinegar / lime juice /ചൊറുക്ക/ചെറുനാരങ്ങനീര് — 1 to 2 tbsp. (according to one’s taste) .
Points to remember:
• Marinate the fish pieces for at least 30 min.
• Do not fry the fish till crisp and dark brown. Fry till it is golden.
• After adding the fish pieces, do not stir with spoons. You can rotate the pan.
• Add vinegar / lime juice as per taste after switching off the flame.
