This misperception can create an expectation gap where leaders think their team should quickly adapt to a decision or idea that may have taken the leader years to develop. The key is for leaders to recognize this gap and give their teams the same courtesy of time to process the change or idea. Secondly, innovative leaders often focus on improving solutions, not just addressing problems. While team members may be addressing immediate issues, leaders are looking at enhancing solutions to achieve optimal performance. To lead effectively, leaders should communicate their innovative thought process, making sure their team understands the rationale behind the change. This means explaining the bigger picture and the potential rewards of adopting a new approach or solution, especially if it involves risk.
