I was absolutely glued to The Green Hornet TV series as a kid. The 1966–67 show starred Van Williams as Britt Reid/The Green Hornet and the legendary Bruce Lee as Kato. Produced and narrated by William Dozier (who also produced Batman), it even had that unforgettable crossover episode where Green Hornet and Kato joined forces with Batman and Robin — one of my greatest childhood TV moments.
The swinging theme song, played by trumpet great Al Hirt, remains one of the coolest TV themes of the era. I’m not sure who handled the drums on the original session, but here’s my drum playalong to this iconic theme.
