Jonny Quest was produced by Hanna Barbera and ran in 1964-1965. The theme song was composed by Hoyt Curtin. Hoyt was the primary music director for Hanna Barbera. In a 1999 interview, Curtin revealed that “the band used for the sessions was a jazz ensemble consisting of four trumpets, six trombones, five woodwind doublers, and a five-man rhythm section including percussion. Two of the drummers were renowned musicians Alvin Stoller and Frankie Capp. The song was written to be impossible for the Trombonists to play correctly, after Hoyt Curtin's getting ribbing from his Trombone section about writing music that was too easy to play. This was one of my favorite cartoon themes. When I was in the first full time band I worked in at Disney we played an arrangement of this tune done by our leader and brilliant arranger Chris Sharp. I had fun doing this as it brought back great Disney memories as well as memories of me as a 4 year old sitting in front of our families tv.
Please subscribe to my page, and like, and comment, if you feel inclined. I offer lots of great music from all styles. If you like drums, and seeing what it takes to play them on your favorite songs, you have come to the right place.
