The comedy duo. You should know who probably plays the straight man and who plays the unorthodox even before watching the video.
--------------------
Artur: The monk who isn't a trap. You got it, Artur's bases and growths are very similar to Lucius, well, except that Lucius has an advantage (just slightly) over almost everything.
Even so, Artur still had 2 advantages over Lucius. His promotional paths, and most importantly, the promotional gains for each class. Despite having the same promotional gains as a bishop for both games, FE8 bishops have the slayer skills, which is probably the best skills to have in creature campaign.
If you aren't the type of player who will continue on playing after the main completion, his sage path also had lots of good deals. Instant D rank in staves while having 2 weapon types in his magic arsenal. Utility and versatility guaranteed. Wow, I sound like a salesman for a second.
With all the various upgrades to the new classes, it's no wonder that the characters are kinda "nerfed" in a way, even though they are not in reality.
--------------------
Lute: The genderswapped Erk. Even their mindsets are kinda inter-swapped in a way. While Erk always think that he is not good enough, as for Lute... she's a prodigy, well, allegedly. Still, they have the same hardworking characteristic, always cooping themselves in their room to keep on studying.
Except for this time, Lute has a slight advantage over Erk with her bases. For growths, she is kinda in-between FE6's Lilina and Erk. Keeping Erk's balanced out statline, while focusing a little more on her Mag growth like Lilina. That said, she could still cap her Mag on average, regardless of promotional path. Meaning that if she is a mage knight, you will lose out on a few points of Mag due to the lower Mag cap.
The promotional gains for sage is slightly higher overall, with the sole exception of the extra movement for mage knight. Note that the mage knight is a nerfed version of FE7 Valkyrie, with 1 less movement, while sage in FE8 has access to Light magic too.
----------------------
Not trying to convince anyone that which is a better class, but do take note that in FE8, mounted classes are kinda nerfed while foot classes are buffed compared to FE7. An example is that Paladins can't wield axe anymore while Generals can now wield swords. If you are a player who like mounted units, you might find this "game-balancing" annoying, while if you preferred foot units, of course, you would definitely love it.
Of course. The promotions here aren't to my combat "personality", I chose these because I preferred how the way they look compared to their original art. I mean, Artur's beautiful perm became a regular buzzcut if he is promoted to a bishop..
Since the comedy duo is out, I will have the comedy trio (L'Arachel, Dozla and Rennac) in the next video.
