On 11/02/20 at about 6:25 pm, Hemet Police Officers responded to the 200 block of E Stetson Avenue, after receiving a call of a man bleeding and being chased by two other men.
As officers were responding to the area, another caller reported hearing gun shots and seeing the bloodied man fall to the ground. After the shooting, a white SUV was seen fleeing the area.
Upon arrival, officers found a 36 year old man on the ground with gunshot wounds. Unfortunately, the victim died at the scene from these wounds.
Investigators learned the victim was seen being punched & hit by the two men in a nearby alley a few minutes prior to the initial calls to 911.
At some point, the victim got away from his attackers and made his way to a shopping / restaurant center, in the 200 block of E Stetson Avenue.
The two men chased the victim, cornered him near a pizza restaurant, and then one of the suspects shot the victim several times.
While fleeing, the white SUV driver lost control and crashed into a brick mailbox in the 1400 block of S Palm Avenue, Hemet. Hemet Police officers located two suspects hiding nearby and placed them under arrest. The weapon and other evidence was also located.
At the time of this release, Hemet Police officers, with the assistance of Riverside County Sheriff’s airship, are still searching the area for any additional suspects who may have also been in the white SUV.
Detectives from the Hemet Police Department are investigating this case as a homicide and would like to talk to anyone who was in the area at that time. The name of the victim is not being released at this time pending notification of family.
There is no evidence to indicate this homicide is related to another shooting case that occurred yesterday in the 200 block of W Florida Avenue.
