ITALY: NATO: FORCES CONTINUE TO ATTACK SERBS

The situation in Kosovo is still worsening.

With continuing streams of refugees bringing allegations of gross atrocities with them out of the troubled province, NATO says it is determined to continue its attacks until Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic agrees to the peace plan.

APTN takes a look at some of the weaponry that NATO has at its disposal.

NATO forces involved in the attack on Yugoslavia were put on show to journalists on Monday, as another wave of bombing was launched over the region.

The USS Phillipine Sea is patrolling in the Adriatic, from where it can launch cruise missiles at the Yugoslav mainland.

NATO say that over 100 sea- and air-launched cruise missiles have been fired at Yugoslavia's sophisticated air defense system so far.

Nearby, in Italy, Aviano Air Force Base is the home for some of the eleven countries' 400-strong combined Allied Airforce.

They have been responsible for continued airstrikes over Yugoslav soil.

NATO is trying to force the Serbs to accept a peace plan that calls for 28,000 foreign troops in Kosovo.
