Nellikai Soup / Gooseberry Soup:
Nellikani / Gooseberry soup is very good immunity booster. Nellikai is very good source of minerals and vitamins. Rice in Vitamin C. To increase the immunity this dish is very helpful. Good for children to increase their immunity power. This soup can be taken to prevent cold and cough. Best preventive food for viruses. This can be consumed during cold and cough to smoothen the sore throat. Rice in antioxidants. Best anti-aging fruit.
Ingredients : (Serves 5 to 6 Persons)
Gooseberry / Nellikai – 5 Nos
Small onions – 5 nos
Garlic – 4 nos
Moong Dhal – 2 Tbsp. Soak the moong dhal for 30 Mins and cook in cooker for 4 to 5 whistles. It should be smashed well. 3 cups of water should be added for cooking the moong dhal.
Pepper Corns - 1 Tsp
Pepper Powder - 1 Tsp (As Needed)
Salt
Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
Gingelly Oil - 1 Tsp
Turmeric Powder – ½ Tsp
Water - 3 Cups
Method:
1. Add gingelly oil in a pan
2. Temper cumin and pepper
3. Add small onions and garlic – Saute till translucent
4. Saute gooseberry
5. Add salt and turmeric
6. Add 3 cups of water
7. Let the gooseberry cook to soft
8. Add 3 cups of moong dhal water – Boil for 2 mins
9. Switch off the flame
10. Add pepper powder & fresh coriander leaves
