My preferred way to finish an embroidery hoop also happens to be the quickest and simplest way! Some folks like to use glue but it does degrade over time. Some folks like to cover the backs of their embroidery, but I love leaving it open - the reverse tells a story of all the work you have put in! Here are the steps:
1) Make sure your embroidery is centered and free of any wrinkles or puckering.
2) Thread your needle with 2 strands of thread and tie a knot.
3) Weave your needle in and out of the fabric in a running stitch around the outside of the hoop, about 1/4" from the hoop.
4) Pull the thread tight to cinch the fabric.
5) Tie off the thread and cut off the excess thread.
