Edward Abbey was a writer, a "environmental essayist". My opinion is everyone should be required to read his books. To truly understand we are place holders in time, stewards to our lands. I grow sad knowing that some people in my country will never know a life outside choked air, and high rise buildings. Most of all, the beauty of floating a river, a protected river (thank you to the "Wild & Scenic Rivers Act").
