ಸಿದ್ದೇಶ್ವರ ಬೆಟ್ಟ ಕರ್ನಾಟಕದ ಚಾಮರಾಜನಗರ ಜಿಲ್ಲೆಯ ಕೊಳ್ಳೇಗಾಲ ತಾಲ್ಲೂಕಿನ ಹೊಂಡರಬಾಳು ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿರುವ ಪವಿತ್ರ ಬೆಟ್ಟ. ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಮೇಲ್ಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಇರುವ ಶ್ರೀ ಸಿದ್ದೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಗುಹಾ ದೇವಾಲಯ ಶಿವನಿಗೆ ಸಮರ್ಪಿತವಾಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶವು ಬಿಳಿಗಿರಿ ರಂಗನಾಥಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ಸಮೀಪದಲ್ಲಿದೆ.

ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟವು ಶತಮಾನಗಳಿನಿಂದ ಸಾಧು-ಸಂತರ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮತ್ತು ತಪಸ್ಸಿನ ಸ್ಥಳ ಎಂದು ಪರಿಗಣಿಸಲಾಗಿದೆ.

ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ನಂಬಿಕೆ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಸಿದ್ದೇಶ್ವರ ಸ್ವಾಮಿ ಈ ಅರಣ್ಯ ಮತ್ತು ಗ್ರಾಮಗಳನ್ನು ರಕ್ಷಿಸುವ ದೇವರು ಎಂದು ಭಕ್ತರು ನಂಬುತ್ತಾರೆ.

ದೇವಾಲಯವು ಗುಹೆಯೊಳಗೆ ನಿರ್ಮಾಣವಾಗಿರುವುದರಿಂದ, ಪ್ರಾಚೀನ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಮುನಿಗಳು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಧ್ಯಾನ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರೆಂಬ ಊಹೆ ಇದೆ.

ಬೆಟ್ಟದ ಕೆಳಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿ ಕಂಡುಬರುವ ವೀರಗಲ್ಲು (Hero stone) ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಹಳೆಯ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಯೋಧರು ಮತ್ತು ವಾಸಸ್ಥಾನಗಳಿದ್ದುದನ್ನು ಸೂಚಿಸುತ್ತದೆ.

ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಕಥೆಗಳ ಪ್ರಕಾರ ಈ ಬೆಟ್ಟಕ್ಕೆ ಮಹಾಭಾರತದ ಪಾಂಡವರೊಂದಿಗೆ ಸಂಬಂಧವಿದೆ. ಕೆಲವು ಕಲ್ಲುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಕಾಣುವ ಗುರುತುಗಳನ್ನು ಭೀಮನ ಮೊಣಕಾಲಿನ ಗುರುತು ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ.

ವಿಶೇಷ ಪೂಜೆಗಳು ಮತ್ತು ಸ್ಥಳೀಯ ಜಾತ್ರೆಗಳ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಭಕ್ತರು ಇಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಭೇಟಿ ನೀಡುತ್ತಾರೆ.

Siddeshwara Betta – History

Siddeshwara Betta is a sacred hill located near Hondarabalu village in Kollegal taluk of Chamarajanagar district, Karnataka. The hill is known for the Shri Siddeshwara Swamy cave temple, which is dedicated to Lord Shiva (Siddeshwara). The temple is situated on top of a rocky hill inside a forest region near the Biligiri Ranganatha Swamy Temple Wildlife Sanctuary

Historical and Religious Significance

The hill has been considered a spiritual place for many centuries where sages and saints are believed to have performed meditation and penance.

Local legends say that the deity Siddeshwara protects the forests and villages around the hill. Devotees visit the cave temple to seek blessings and spiritual peace.
