We’re back with another Implied Harmony video!
As we've mentioned before, Implied Harmony is a great tool to use to make your solos more exciting. Implied Harmony means that you’re thinking of another harmony over the existing one when playing the melody, outlining (implying) the new harmony. This can be achieved by using very clear chord tones of the harmony you want to imply.
Here’s another example of using Coltrane Changes over a II-V-I. This time, the roots of the implied harmony are played with the left hand as part of the line.
