While tacking up—brushing, placing the saddle, and getting ready to ride—our patient practices conversation skills, follows multi-step directions, and builds confidence through meaningful interaction and responsibility.
These moments before the ride are just as important as the session itself. Horse care encourages communication, patience, sequencing, and purposeful movement, all while strengthening the connection between patient and horse.
About Nature’s Edge:
Nature’s Edge Therapy Center is a nonprofit speech therapy center located on a 65-acre ranch in Rice Lake, Wisconsin. We integrate medically prescribed therapy with nature-based and animal-assisted activities, including horses, dogs, cats, cows, pigs, llamas, goats, and more, to help patients grow in independence, communication, and confidence.
