Purchased a used 8" JET Jointer (JJ-8CS) and needed to get it read for use in my shop. The list of updates included: installing a spiral (helical, segmented, etc) cutter head, increasing dust collection to 6" ducting, and adding a much longer (25') power cord.
If I had to do the cutterhead install all over again I would not have installed the belts at the motor until later. I had to remove them to install the shims underneath the bearing supports. So, get tables co-planar, get the cutter head parallel with outfeed, then attach belts to motor and do a bunch of test cuts.
