AIML is pleased to present the fourth instalment of our seminar series, AI on the Ground.
Hosted by AIML Deputy Director and AI ethicist Dr Melissa McCradden, the June 2025 seminar was delivered by Dr Mjaye L. Mazwi and Dmytro Lopushanskyy, who joined us virtually from Seattle Children's Hospital to reflect on their real-world experience building infrastructure for AI in health.
Title: What if you could start over with what you know now? Lessons learned from efforts to build AI-as-a-service capability and create translational infrastructure for model development and deployment.
Drawing from their early work at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Dr Mazwi and Dmytro now lead Seattle Children’s AI-as-a-service initiative. This talk will be less about algorithms and more about strategy, with a philosophical look at what it takes to build AI infrastructure that works in the real world.
