South Carolina drivers should prepare for new road regulations as the state's hands-free law takes effect on Sep. 1.
The law prohibits drivers from using mobile devices for any reason while driving, expanding on the former "no texting while driving" law.
David Jones with the South Carolina Highway Patrol said that officers will be looking for drivers holding phones or appearing to be distracted.
