North-West Corner Rule (NWCR) is a simple method used to obtain an initial basic feasible solution for a transportation problem.In this method, allocation starts from the top-left (north-west) cell of the transportation table. The maximum possible quantity is assigned to this cell, which is the minimum of the available supply and the required demand. After the allocation, either the supply or the demand becomes zero. The satisfied row or column is then crossed out, and the procedure moves to the next cell to the right or downward.
This process is continued step by step until all supplies and demands are completely satisfied
