Research suggests that open and honest communication between teens and their parents/caregivers about healthy relationships can help reduce their risk of experiencing dating violence. But parents don't always feel knowledgeable about these topics or comfortable discussing them with their kids. While there are programs and educational resources to support parents in this area, it can be challenging to access these supports while balancing the daily demands of parenting, work, and other obligations. That's why we've brought in Lianne Lee and Sarah Winstanley from ConnectEd Parents to talk about one potential solution.
ConnectEd Parents uses an innovative approach called 'micro-learning'. This involves using text messages to build parents’ skills to support healthy youth relationships, and improve their confidence over time. Listen to our conversation to learn more about this approach and what early evaluation data is revealing about parents' experience with the program.
