As some of you may know. Back in my channels first year of operation. I filmed several different things. But when the other videos didn’t preform i took them down and changed my channel to run off of just truck videos. Its worked out well. However i figured maybe its time to try again.
My first upload was actually of a freight train moving thru the tehachapi loop. So last Saturday i went out and sat at the Palmdale Metrolink station and waited.
The first train of the day was Metrolink 263, with EMD F125 915 on the point. At first the F125 had several-bugs but as Metrolink received more and more of these tier 4’s they got them running really well. I’ve heard engineers love them and call them “Monsters” Please excuse the initial shake as the K2 horn caught me quite off guard at first.
I then saw the daily LA to Lathrop stacker. Designated as the ZLCLT (Or ILCLT, i’ve heard both) The Lathrop was rather light and only used 2 locomotives instead of the usual 3-4.
Metrolink 268 arrived shortly after the freight was out of sight. It was the same set as what 263 used with 915 shoving.
Then after waiting more time a large Manifest approached. Its likely that all of the hoppers at the front were picked up in Mojave as UP recently discontinued the “Mojave Flyer” The train really had to slow down to get through the Palmdale junction just down the track.
Soon after Metrolink 265 arrived. Showing the oldest locos in Metrolink’s fleet. 868 was with Metrolink when it first started. It has been rebuilt designating it as an F59PHR. I love the powerup these locos make so i stood right next to it as it took off.
After another hour of waiting another Metrolink showed up, this time 267 with F125 917 leading.
Here is the train with the the most story to it. While waiting i kept my eye on the depot train cam in Tehachapi. (Found at Tehachapi Live Train Cams) While waiting i saw this train go by and noticed UP’s Boy Scouts unit 3rd out. Unfortunately i had to leave Palmdale station before it showed up. But when i came back to try and catch it again. It had passed. The folks in the chat of the train cam were very helpful and used ATCS to track an EB UP that was sitting in the siding at CP Palmdale. I went down there just as it was headed out of the siding. The sunset provided a beautiful shot as the train approached and there it was, UP 2010. Things worked out extremely well for me to catch this train. And i never would have known about it if I hadn’t seen it on the live cam in Tehachapi. So huge thanks to everyone on the chat that afternoon.
