The University of Maryland's history degree enables students to delve deeply into a range of topics and learn how we make sense of the past. Students will examine historical sources and engage in debates about what happened and why it matters. In the process, students gain intellectual and practical skills, including oral and written communication; analytical, critical and creative thinking skills; interpersonal and organizational skills and digital media and computer skills. History graduates at the University of Maryland go on to work in education, law, politics, public service, journalism and more.
The Department of History at the University of Maryland is a part of the College of Arts & Humanities which is home to 11 academic departments, three schools and 20 research centers.
