The gravel road we took from Napier to Elim was absolutely beautiful, drenched and magical to drive on. It’s another stunning area in the Western Cape of South Africa. As we arrived in the quaint village of Elim, the rain began to clear, almost as if on cue. We strolled around the old mission buildings near the church and were fortunate enough to have the opportunity to explore the historic church itself. One of the highlights was the largest wooden waterwheel in the country! Driving through the village streets, we admired the charming thatched-roof houses and were warmly welcomed by the friendly locals. We also visited the well-maintained cemetery, where the early pioneers have been honoured since 1827. Our visit to Elim was truly memorable.
