Innovative Development Solutions recently organized an interactive awareness session with members of the transgender community, in collaboration with the National Education Foundation. The session aimed to educate participants about the harmful effects of tobacco use, which disproportionately impacts marginalized groups. Along with information on health risks and cessation strategies, a participatory cost analysis activity was conducted, helping attendees calculate how much money they spend on tobacco each month and year. This eye-opening exercise encouraged critical reflection on how tobacco use affects not only health but also financial well-being. The session also included a stress-relief activity to highlight the role of mental health in tobacco dependence. By creating safe, inclusive spaces for learning and dialogue, we move closer to a tobacco-free future for all.
