Burford is a popular medieval tourist town in the Cotswolds region of England in the UK.
Located approximately 20 miles west of Oxford, and 90 minutes west of London, it has over a million visitors a year. A beautiful example of a Cotswolds town, with it mellow yellow medieval buildings and streets it is home to many restaurants, pubs, antique shops and tea rooms.
It also boasts the amazing church of St John the Baptist, one of the 10 most visited Churches in England, with Pagan routes and a Civil war history.
Set beside the River Windrush and having expanded up the hill in Elizabethan times, with good road links to nearby Oxford, London and Cheltenham and Bath, Burford should be on the list of any tourist exploring the Cotswold's.
Originally a fortified settlement and then a medieval wool town, Burford is rich in history and character.
