Harry Potter was inspired (reputedly) in Durham with the architecture of Gringots Bank, and Diagon Alley being inspired here. The Philosophers stone and the Chamber of Secrets were also filmed in Durham Cathedral.

The Venerable Bede and Saint Cuthbert are buried in the Cathedral and there are amazing 12th Century paintings in the Galilee Chapel.

Enjoy a walk around the centre of medieval Durham and see the life of the locals and students, the shops, restaurants and the beautiful setting on the River Wear. A fantastic city in the North East of Great Britain 6 miles from Newcastle.
