A video compilation highlighting strong to severe thunderstorms affecting the island of Montreal, and eventually the SW West Island area. This was the 4th consecutive day that the West Island was struck by thunderstorms. Thunderstorms developed in response to a sharp cold front migrating SE, with sufficient convergence for scattered thunderstorm coverage. Deep shearing fields were also suitable enough for thunderstorm organization, and robust solar heating, along with high humidity and marginally steep cooling aloft, generated borderline moderate-high instability.
The video mostly shows the distant intense lightning (many of which were touching the ground), as well as those that eventually affected the West Island. Torrential rain is also depicted in the footage, and photos of towering cumulus evolving into cumulonimbi.
