The Qantab Flagpole Hike is a popular and rewarding trail near Muscat, well known for its breathtaking panoramic views of the coastline, rugged mountains, and Muscat Bay. The trail is very challenging in parts but remains one of the region’s most iconic hikes. The trail leads to the summit where the Omani flag stands proudly, offering an exceptional viewpoint.
Rated moderate to challenging, especially due to steep ascents and loose rocks. The hike is not recommended for small children because of exposed and precipitous sections.
Distance:
Approximately 4.5–6 km (2.8–3.7 miles), depending on whether you return the same way or continue toward Muscat Bay.
Duration with a total hike time 2–3 hours, including rest stops and time to enjoy the views.
Elevation Gain:
Roughly 300–420 meters of elevation gain.
