Last week I came across a Norfolk Southern Maintenance of Way crews running a ballast cleaner through Highland Cut.
Running westbound on the former Pennsylvania Railroad Ft Wayne Line (PRR FTW) in western PA, I was able to get passing shots of it operating, an overhead view of it running, and two intermodal trains passing passing through the work zone.
My personal favorite view starts at 4:35.
Completely self contained, it was cool seeing the Kershaw power unit leading this amazing piece of specialized machinery.
Heavy on General Electric locomotives, the first passing IM stacks were headed by an awesome combination of the great numbered "Countdown" engine #4321, a GE Wabtec AC44, and EMD SD70ACC #1838, followed by GEVO #8117 & Dash 9 #9739
