Bonnie Tsui is a longtime contributor to The New York Times and the author of bestselling books Why We Swim, a Time magazine and NPR Best Book of the Year, and American Chinatown, which won the Asian/Pacific American Award for Literature. She lives, swims, and surfs in the Bay Area.
In her new book On Muscle: The Stuff That Moves Us and Why It Matters, Bonnie brings her signature blend of science, culture, immersive reporting, and personal narrative to examine not just what muscles are but what they mean to us. Muscles make our hearts beat; push blood through our vessels; and allow us to move. Muscles also have defined beauty—and distorted it—through the ages, and they play an essential role in our physical and mental health.
In 2021, Bonnie joined us at The Forum Online to talk about Why We Swim and I’m excited to have her today in person to talk about her newest book, On Muscle.
