San Francisco is home to some of the country’s most visionary arts institutions—organizations that not only reflect culture but help shape the city’s identity. As San Francisco undergoes a period of renewal, what part do these institutions play in its revitalization? And in turn, how are they evolving within a rapidly shifting social and political landscape? At a time when national debates raise urgent questions about the purpose, independence, and future of museums and cultural organizations, these conversations couldn’t be more timely.
Join us for an open and insightful discussion with several of San Francisco’s leading arts and civic voices, moderated by Cathedral Dean Malcolm Clemens Young. The panel features:
Thomas P. Campbell, Director and CEO, Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
Alison Gass, Founding Director & Chief Curator, Institute of Contemporary Art San Francisco
Dr. Soyoung Lee, The Barbara Bass Bakar Director and CEO, Asian Art Museum
Ned Segal, Chief of Housing and Economic Development, City of San Francisco
This gathering launches a new series at Grace Cathedral devoted to elevating civil dialogue and strengthening mutual understanding. Expect a conversation rich with insight into why thriving arts and cultural institutions are essential to community connection, creativity, and the ongoing renewal of San Francisco.
