Ben Barry used to work as the Digital Director at the British Library. Ben has a 30 year career in communications and IT leadership. Starting with 10 years at BMW Group at the MINI factory in Oxford and at HQ in Munich. Then moving into the University sector as Head of IT Strategy and then Director of Digital. Digital leadership roles in a number of large UK Universities and experience delivering consultancy to public and private organisations on digital strategy and cyber security. In February 2024 joined the British Library as the new Director of Digital into the early stages on the recovery from the devastating cyber attack in October 2023. Now moving back into Higher Education with a digital and information leadership role in a London-based University.

Description:
The presentation will cover a short introduction to the British Library and cover the impact and experience of the cyber attack. It will offer an insight into the initial experience of managing the cyber attack and lessons the team have learned from the experience. It will also cover some updated lessons from the dedicated work to fully recover from the cyber attack. Work which continues to this day. Fundamentally it is about my experience as the digital lead and overall senior responsible officer for the recovery programme. Hopefully it will have some important messages that colleagues can take away to ensure their organisations get into more cyber secure positions and know what do do (and what not to do) should (or when) a cyber attack happen(s).

Kansalliskirjasto järjesti vuoden 2025 Kirjastoverkkopäivät ke 22.10. – to 23.10 Helsingissä.

Joka toinen vuosi järjestettävät päivät ovat tärkeä kirjastoalan ammattilaisten kohtaamispaikka. Kirjastoverkkopäivillä on esityksiä ja työpajoja kirjastoalan ammattilaisille kaikenlaisissa kirjastoissa. Aiheet liittyvät toisaalta Kansalliskirjaston kirjastoille tuottamiin palveluihin, toisaalta alan ajankohtaisiin ilmiöihin. Ohjelma suunnitellaan ja toteutetaan yhteistyössä kirjastojen ja niiden yhteistyökumppanien kanssa.

Vuoden 2025 Kirjastoverkkopäivien teema oli järjestelmiä ihmisille. Haluamme muistuttaa, että ihmiset tekevät järjestelmiä ihmisille. Osallistuminen ja osallistaminen ovat tärkeä osa kaikkein teknisimmänkin työn onnistumista.
