Colchester General Hospital is unique in being able to offer midwifery-led care to women at home, at one of two coastal units, Clacton and Harwich, Halstead Birthing Centre or at the Juno Suite, a co-located midwifery-led unit at Colchester General Hospital.

The Obstetric Unit at Colchester General Hospital is staffed by a team of midwives, obstetricians, anaesthetists, paediatricians and many specialist healthcare professionals.

Our aim is to offer choice, support, information and excellent care to you and your family throughout your pregnancy, during your labour and after your baby is born.

You and your family are placed at the centre of care and involved in all decision-making regarding your pregnancy, labour and birth. As you come to decide where you would like to give birth your midwife will discuss with you information you need to help you make an informed choice.
