Kulgam, June 11, 2025 — The silk industry in Kulgam district has received a major boost this year, with a significant increase in cocoon production bringing smiles to the faces of silkworm farmers. Farmers Thanks to the implementation of modern technology and extensive support under the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP),formers said that Due to Rairing House under HADP we can produce more Quality and Quantity production.
the Sericulture Department has successfully empowered local farmers to enhance productivity and improve their livelihoods.

Speaking on the development, Silkworm Development Officer Adil Abdullah Wani confirmed that more than 600 silkworm farmers are currently availing benefits under various schemes across the four designated zones of the district. He further added that 95 villages have been actively covered under this initiative, reflecting the wide-scale reach and impact of the department's efforts.

Farmers expressed deep gratitude towards the Sericulture Department and the government, noting that the provision of improved rearing houses, disinfectants, rearing kits, and training sessions has made a tangible difference in cocoon quality and quantity.

The department remains committed to expanding its reach and continuing the momentum of progress in the region, ensuring that more farmers benefit from sustainable sericulture practices.
