One of the problems with cults is their distorted views of relationships. They call themselves your new “family” yet you are expected to shun your real family and even look down on them as not holy enough.
In some cases members were allowed to be close with family members but that was only because the leaders wanted bigger donations from them. If your family was poor then you had limited access to contacting your family. At least in the cult that I used to be a part of.
Too often cults separate families and cause a lot of damage to relationships.
If you have left a cult or are planning to leave a cult you may find it difficult to reconnect and heal relationships which had been damaged by the cult.
In this video I share some steps I took that helped me in reconnecting with family, friends and relatives and how I have a lot more peace in my life 😌
