'Anaesthesia, Surgery and Life-Threatening Anaphylaxis', the report and findings of the 6th National Audit Project (NAP6): Perioperative Anaphylaxis, was launched at the Royal Society of Medicine on 14 May 2018.
The RCoA National Audit Projects study anaesthesia-related complications of low incidence that are potentially serious for patients and important to patients and anaesthetists. NAP6 studied the topic of perioperative anaphylaxis, a life-threatening drug reaction that happens suddenly, without warning and can affect anyone.
This study is the culmination of almost four years’ work by a large number of multidisciplinary contributors, including specialist anaesthetists, allergists, immunologists, patients and allergy charities, and is endorsed by all four Chief Medical Officers of the UK. NAP6 is the first National Audit Project to engage with the independent healthcare sector.
