Welcome to Episode 1 in 12 Minutes to a More Mindful Life — a guided mindfulness series by Jerry Varghese, Certified Mindfulness Teacher (IMTA) and founder of Nihshreyasa, a holistic wellness studio based in Fort Kochi, Kerala, India.
In this first session, we begin with The Present Moment Pause — a gentle, 12-minute guided meditation designed to help you slow down, center yourself, and reconnect with the here and now.
Through this practice, you’ll:
Settle into your body and release tension
Use the breath as an anchor for awareness
Observe sensations, sounds, and thoughts with gentleness
Rest in open awareness — simply being
You’ll also explore a simple Mindful Activity to take into your day: Three Conscious Breaths — a short, intentional pause you can use anytime to reset and return to the present. Before a meeting, a conversation, or whenever you feel tense — just stop, breathe three slow, mindful breaths, and notice the shift within you.
Take a moment after this practice to reflect:
• How do you feel before and after?
• What shifted in your body or thoughts?
• What does “being present” feel like for you today?
Mindfulness begins with small moments like these — simple pauses that open the door to clarity, calm, and connection.
