Crossing type: Manually Controlled Barrier crossing with Obstacle Detection (MCB-OD)

Filming location: Station Road, Plumpton Green (BN7 3BW)

An obstacle detection level crossing located beside Plumpton Station in the village of Plumpton Green, East Sussex. It's also located next to Plumpton Race Course and Plumpton's grade-two-listed signal box, the latter of which has been out of use since 2016 when this crossing was fully renewed from manual gates, grade-two listed gates that were the last in East Sussex on the main lines. Operational manually-operated gates can still be found in the county at Northiam and Bodiam on the Kent & East Sussex Railway. Since its commissioning, the crossing has been mostly un-changed bar both of the off-side audible alarms, which both have newer sounders, with four in total still being used here. One barrier is also significantly longer than the other four, and one of the three pedestrian lights here is mostly useless as it points to a verge with no footway at all.
