On October 31, 2015, Art This Week filmed the symposium on Ellsworth Kelly held at the Blanton Museum of Art. The panel gathered for the groundbreaking of Kelly’s Austin. “The 2,715-square-foot stone structure — the only building ever designed by Kelly — will include luminous colored glass windows, a totemic wood sculpture, and 14 black-and-white stone panels in marble, all designed by the artist. The work will be built on the Blanton’s grounds and, once realized, will become part of the museum’s permanent collection.” (quote from the Blanton’s website)
In Part 2, the panel discusses the history of Kelly’s building Austin that will sit on the grounds of the Blanton.
