Soo Line 1003 - Wisconsin Steam on the Mainline

Описание: Filmed over the weekend of November 11th and 12th between Fairwater and Hartford, Wisconsin.

Soo Line 1003, a "L-1" class 2-8-2 Mikado type steam engine, built in 1913 by ALCO for the Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie Railroad, popularly known as the Soo Line railroad. Hauling both passenger and freight for the midwestern line until being retired in 1959. Instead of being scraped, Soo Line 1003 was donated by the railroad to the city of Superior, Wisconsin, with an attempt at restoration in the 70s, before finally being successfully restored in 1996. With another restoration done in 2012, Soo Line 1003 returns to the high iron around the Hartford area from time to time for special events and photo charters.
And over the weekend of November 11-12th, Soo Line 1003 helped pull the Santa Train into downtown Hartford, later that night Soo Line 1003 took to the mainline hauling a short freight to Brandon, Wisconsin to prepare for the photo charter that was held on the next day. For the night move footage, I decided to edit it in black and white as a creative nod to O. Winston Link. I also decided against using any of the Santa Train footage from Saturday, as it was a short move from the museum, moving about a block into downtown Hartford, Wisconsin. The main action is from the day of the photo charter as Soo Line 1003 put on an amazing show as it rolled through the Wisconsin countryside.
